Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, the PDP’s Vice Presidential candidate, paid a visit to the families of police officers killed by gunmen in Anambra on Sunday.
Inspectors Lucky Aleh, Celestine Nwadiokwu, and Jude Obuh, who were assigned to the Government House in Asaba’s explosives disposal unit, were the deceased officers.
They were reportedly travelling to Umuahia for work on Friday when they were ambushed and killed by gunmen at a location along the Ihiala-Orlu road in Anambra.
Okowa expressed sympathy to the wives and families of Agbor Obi and Orogodo in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, Mrs. Nwamaka Aleh and Mrs. Juliet Obuh.
He also condoled with the wife, Mrs Onyeisi Nwadiokwu and the Nwadiokwu family of Owa Ekei, Ika North-East LGA of the state for the loss.
The governor prayed for the bereaved families and asked them to take solace in the fact that the deceased died in active service for the nation.
He assured that the state government would continue to identify with them through the trying times.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor was accompanied on the visit by member, representing Ika Federal Constituency, Mr Victor Nwokolo.
Also the member, representing Ika South in the State House of Assembly, Mr Festus Okoh, his Ika North East counterpart, Mr Anthony Elekeokwuri; Commissioner for Works, Mr Noel Omodon, his Information counterpart, Mr Charles Aniagwu were on the entourage. (NAN)
