NJC to unveil 11 Justices for Supreme Court

At last, the National Judicial Council NJC has come out with the nomination of eleven Justices for the Supreme Court of Nigeria bench.

The nomination came barely 36 hours after the Chairman of the Council and Chief Justice of Nigeria CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, revealed that the Apex Court would get 21 Constitutionally prescribed full complements in his own time.

According to a document sighted by Daily Post at the NJC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, those who made the final nominations are Justices Jummai Hannatu Sankey, Stephen Jonah Adah, Mohammed Baba Idris, Haruna Simon Tsammani and Jamilu Tukur.

The rest are Justices Abubakar Sadiq Umar, Chidiebere Nwaoma Uwa Obande Festus Obuinya, Ugochukwu Anthony Ogakwu, Moore Aseimo Adumein and Habeeb Adewale Olumuyiwa Abiru.

The said was confirmed authentic by a dependable source at the NJC in Abuja, which also has 11 other Justices on reserve.

The dependable source told Kemi Filani News that the meeting for final selection and ratification was presided over by the CJN, and the meeting ended this morning with a unanimous decision on the nomination.

NJC Director of Information, Mr Soji Oye, said that the Council would soon make its position known through an official press statement.
