It is alarming the rate at which our communication networks providers are desperate in making business in Nigeria.
One
begins to wonder what could have made the country fertile with deceit
and lies to rob the citizenry of their hard earned currency

They
all come with their different gimmicks to exploit the poor calling it
lottery or bonus thereby abusing the power of money in the credit in
people’s phones put in their trust.

Etisalat went into the news recently telling the world of its feat in breaking through the data regime.
According to the network provider, its subscribers have the unique opportunity of paying N2000 for 2GB data.
Not done with that, Etisalat is now bombarding its customers with another mouth watering package of getting 1GB just for N1000.
I
happened to receive two of such message last week. And l thought it a great privilege to enjoy the product as it came.

I
sent the code after l had loaded a N1000 recharge card only to be told
repeatedly that l should try later as their …could not process the
message sent to them.

I called their Customers care line to be told my number was not among those marked to enjoy the privilege.
I was told it was only meant for those using the Android phones.
And l happen to be using an Android. What therefore prevents the users of the ‘favored’ phone from enjoying the said…?
I
put my mind off it only to wake up this morning to receive yet another
of such text ,’Get 1GB by recharging N1000, dial *229*2*7# now.’

I had learnt my lesson, before l load the phone with a N1000 credt, let me ask their Customers’Care.
And true to type, l was told the same thing-Not
meant for my Android.

Will
somebody tell them to stop playing on people’s intelligence. What they
could not afford to do, they should not advertise or throw to the
all-ready-sapped Nigerians.

Let
the MTN also take note. We know some of its ploy. They will tell you in
the text message informing you of your balance, that your phone number
has been selected to enjoy a type of bonus free. What you have only to
do is send FREE to a code number and you get a generator etc. From MTN!
When you ask for your bonus!

God
help us in this country. By the time you know it, MTN is deducting N100
daily from the credit on your phone. They don’t want to know if you are
the type that loads N100 or less N500 recharge cards every other day.

Airtel on her own will tell you to use so so amount of credit and get ×5 of it to call other airtel numbers for that day only.
Whenever you dial an airtell number, the
call will not pull through’No network’ is the next thing you will hear.

But dial any other network, you have a green light.
I
can not say of Glo at present because immediately l purchased the sim
about two years ago, l felt distraught at my first recharge. Since then,
l dropped it.

What
could sweep clean the land off all these forms of deceits that are daily
springing up just to rip the customers of their money? It’s like our
choices are limited. Sometimes, l do not use a line for one or two
months if l find it disappointing everytime. But l will be receiving
calls on the sim.A way of saying, let me exercise the right of use.

We by ourselves for ourselves have to rise up to the challenge of making things work in the country.
Let
all men begin to cry out against injustice in the land; ;against
exploitation even in the high places and against exploitation of fellow
man.

If we do not stop them, they will stop us from rising to our potentials.
