Nigerian billionaires have not held back their billions in the fight against COVID-19 which is fast increasing in number of confirmed cases in Nigeria.
As at press time, 131 confirmed cases of the virus was announced by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
The cases includes 3 governors, the Chief of Staff at the Federal level and a son of a former vice president.
To battle the virus, Aliko Dangote and Access Bank formed a coalition of private sector to partner the Federal Government in raising N120b.
Africa’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija yesterday pledged to donate N1b against the virus.
Mike Adenuga through his foundation donated N1.5b to the Federal Government.
Femi Otedola joined in by donating N1b while Tony Elumelu and UBA also made donations.
Just today, Dr Deji Adeleke donated N500m worth of food stuff across Osun State and N500m to FG.
With the weight from the billionaires in place, it is hoped that Nigeria can overcome the scourge of coronavirus which has killed 2 people since the first case on March 14.
