NDE trains 20 women on shoe, bag making in Taraba

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) began a five-day shoe and bag making training for 20 women in Taraba on Monday.

Alhaji Danjuma Shehu, NDE Coordinator in Taraba, said at the program’s launch in Jalingo that the training was part of the directorate’s mandate to create jobs for Nigerians.

Shehu stated that the exercise would allow participants to gain skills and become self-sufficient.

He stated that the training was consistent with the Federal Government’s efforts to combat unemployment and poverty in the country.

”Women are seriously affected by the hardship in the country. This training will prepare them for tapping into the available market in the leather industry.

He said that the 20 women selected for the training would be given N20,000 to start their respective businesses.

The coordinator urged the participants to take the training seriously in order to acquire skills that would change their fortune.

Earlier, the Women Employment Officer of NDE in the state, urged the women to make effective use of the opportunity in their own interests.

”This programme has the ability to turn your fortune around. I urge you to take it seriously,” he said. (NAN)
