Met Gala 2019: Lady Gaga, Serena Williams stun on red carpet (Photos)

The Met Gala 2019 took place in New York and had stars show up in their glamorous costumes to the thrilling if the audience present.

The guest all had a cocktail and a red carpet moment before they proceeded to sit down to perfromance by Cher.

The curator of the Costume Institute,Andrew Bolton, framed the exhibition around Susan Sontag’s seminal 1964 essay Notes on “Camp”, with the aim of making the event time resonate culture.

Speaking at the February press summit, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele said: “This is a very important moment because we will collaborate on the creation of this fantastic exhibition that has a DNA that is related to my work, working to the expression of human nature… Camp is a beautiful word.”

Paying tribute to Karl Lagerfeld, he added: “I would like to seize this opportunity to thank Karl, who is no longer with us, who has been a great representative of fashion, and who had a great love for life and this kind of work.”

The Met Gala is the biggest event on the fashion fundraising calendar and easy founded by publicist Eleanor Lambert to encourage donations from New York’s high society.

The Met Gala 2019 was co-chaired by Lady Gaga, Alessandro Michele, Harry Styles and Serena Williams.
