A 28-year-old man, Aaron George, on Thursday, appeared before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into an apartment and stealing home appliances worth N1.2 million.
George, a resident of Goni-gora Area of Kaduna, is charged with conspiracy and stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that George committed the offences on March 28, at the Federal Housing, Goni- gora.
Leo alleged that George conspired with some persons at large to steal home appliances valued N1.2 million, belonging to Williams Timothy.
“George and his accomplices used a sharp object to gain entrance into the apartment while the complainant had travelled.
“The defendant was sighted by a security guard in the process of stealing the appliances which led to his arrest while the others escaped,” the prosecutor said.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 411 and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.
He also ordered that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax payment to the Kaduna State government, while their addresses should be verified by the court.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until May 11, for hearing. (NAN)
