Man docked for alleged breach of peace in Lagos election

Kenneth Omaji, 38, was docked in a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’Court in Lagos for allegedly acting in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace during the Lagos Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Omaji has been charged with breach of the peace.

The defendant entered a not guilty plea to the charge.

According to the Police Prosecutor, ASP Rita Momah, the defendant committed the crime on March 18 on Olorunfunmi Street in Oworoshoki, Lagos.

According to the police, the defendant acted disorderly and prevented people from voting.

She claimed that the offence violated Section 125 of the Electoral Act of 2022.

Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatubosun granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the same amount.

Olatubosun ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The magistrate adjourned the case until April 26, for mention. (NAN)
