An All Progressive Party lawmaker, Abdullahi Aliyu, representing Musawa/Matazu in Katsina State, disbursed N32.5 million in scholarships to 1,895 needy students on Saturday.
According to NAN, Beneficiaries from the Musawa Local Government Area of the state numbered 1,087, while those from the Matazu Local Government Area numbered 808.
Each university undergraduate and those studying at the Higher National Diploma level got N20,000.
Beneficiaries studying at the National Certificate of Education and National Diploma levels got N15,000 each.
Alhaji Samaila Adamu, chairman of the scholarship committee, said at the flag-off in Musawa that the gesture was facilitated and implemented by the Musawa Education Committee.
“2,364 students applied for the scholarships, but only 1,895 qualified.
“The scholarship has no political consideration as all qualified students benefitted,’’ he said.
