“The news of attack on peaceful protesters by armed hoodlums trying to cause chaos and sow seeds of discord came to me as a complete shock.
I strongly condemn this attack in its entirety. I would never be a supporter nor tolerate any form of violence against citizens. We have set ourselves apart in Lagos state with how we have accommodated protesters, because their cause is genuine and legitimate. Therefore, an attack on them is an attack on us as a Government.
I have ordered an immediate investigation into the matter, with clear and visible footages, not biased by angle of recording.
We will get to the root of this unfortunate incident.
I am with the Nigerian youths on the call for an end to police brutality in Nigeria and I have taken the lead in the advocacy, with my efforts in the past few days. EndSARS is not a campaign that poses a threat to anyone, but a genuine call for social transformation.”
