Stress is a state of
mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or demanding
circumstances.

CAUSES
Causes of stress are
different ages e.g young adult; the sources of stress are found in marriage,
parent – child relationship, struggle to achieve financial stability, etc.
In the middle years;
focus shift to changing spouse relationship e.g demanding for more attention or
care from spouse. Taking care of aged parent or in-laws, etc
At old age; concerns
are about retirement, loss of physical capacity, etc.
Stress can be acute,
chromic and traumatic.
In acute it occurs from
strains of everyday life, it is temporary and people get over it quickly.
Chronic stress: is a
long term thing and the sufferer sees no way of this stressful relation that is
very sick and this relation depend on the individual fully for physical and
financial care. Or a job that is demanding and there is no other job to change
to and that individual cannot do without earning a living.
Traumatic stress: This occurs
as a result of impact of an overwhelming tragedy such as rape, accident, armed
robbers, etc.
How do you identify
that you are under stress
1.     
Restlessness, that is you are unable to
settle down to do things as before
2.     
Irritability: getting angry easily
3.     
Fatigue: getting tired easily
4.     
Feeling of tension
5.     
Inability to concentrate
6.     
Sleep disturbance
7.     
Having bad dreams
8.     
Loss of interest in things that were
previously enjoyable
9.     
Aching muscle
1.      Impatience
Treatment
1.     
Firstly you must be aware that you are experiencing
stress
2.     
Identify the stressor so that you can
omit it, avoid it, or accept it
3.     
Involve yourself in sport activities
like jogging and other physical exercise as a form of relaxation in order to relief
one from stress.
4.     
You can have interpersonal communication
with others that are caring
5.     
You can go for holiday
6.     
You can change environment
