The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has said the explosion in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State on Tuesday was from a gas cynlider.
The Ministry, in a terse statement on Twitter, stated that nine dead bodies were recovered from the rubble of a collapsed building beside a primary school in the area.
The Ministry also revealed that the National Emergency Management Agency and other sister agencies were on the ground to restore normalcy.
The statement read, “9 dead bodies have been recovered so far from the rubble of a collapsed building beside a primary school following explosions from gas cylinder at Aba Road in Sabon Gari area of Kano.
“DG @nemanigeria Mustapha Habib Ahmed was at the site of the incident and coordinated the rescue operations.
“@nemanigeria is presently coordinating the rescue operations with sister agencies.”
