Amid the pervasive rate of insecurity in Nigeria, the police in Kaduna State have ordered a manhunt for three suspected killers of a corps member, Grace Chayla Silas, in the Barnawa area of the state.
Kemi Filani News recalls that Grace Chayla Silas, who was serving a one-year mandatory NYSC in Kaduna, was attacked and killed on October 18 during her physical fitness in the Barnawa area of the metropolis.
She was killed by yet-to-be-identified men riding on a motorcycle.
However, in a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Garba, emphasized his commitment to bringing her assailants to justice and ensuring the safety of corps members in their lodges.
According to the statement, CP Musa Yusuf Garba stated this while receiving a delegation from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), led by the zonal director, North West, Mr Kehinde Aremu Cole, in his office.
He expressed condolences to the director-general and staff of the organization, the deceased’s immediate family members, her corps colleagues and friends.
Earlier, the NYSC zonal director, accompanied by the state director, Mr Hassan Mahmud Taura and other staff members, also requested increased collaboration between the police and the NYSC to enhance the security of corps members, particularly in their lodges.
