JTF arrest Benue most wanted criminal, Azonto

A combined team of Nigerian security has apprehended Benue most wanted terrorist ‘Azonto’, KemiFilaniNews gathered.

The culprit Aondofa Kefas, alias Azonto said to be the most wanted man in Benue State after the military killed late Benue militant leader, Terwase Akwaza, alias “Gana,” last year, was arrested by a joint team of the Nigerian security around Benue and Taraba borders.

Azonto said to be one of the notorious “Gana Boys” was has been terrorizing the Sankara axis of Benue North-East Senatorial District. He and his men have reportedly been kidnapping innocent citizens, robbing farmers and local traders as well as corroborating with Fulani militia herdsmen to kill people in the area.

Recall that in May, about 100 people were killed in Tse Shikaan in Mbagena, Kpav, katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State, by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and men of the late militant, Terwase Akwaza alias ‘Gana’.

A source said Azonto was fleeing Benue following a heavy manhunt launched against him by security operatives, before meeting his waterloo.

Efforts by our correspondent to reach the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, proved abortive as her telephone lines were unreachable as at the time of filing this report.
