The Kaduna State Government has declared a 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas with immediate effect.
Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to the Commissioner, the move is to assist the security agencies to stabilize the situation in the areas, save lives and property and enable the restoration of law and order.
He said, “A statement from the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs said that that security agencies have full authorization to enforce the curfew.
“Government appeals to all residents of Jema’a and Kaura local government areas to cooperate with the security agencies in the urgent task of restoring peace and upholding law and order.
“Government condemns the violence and all acts of lawlessness that have occurred in the area.
Further updates will be issued as necessary.”
Meanwhile, recent efforts by the Police Force Intelligence Bureau Special Tactical Squad (FIB-STS) led to the arrest of thirty (30) suspects for complicity in the crimes of kidnapping, armed robbery, arms smuggling, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, car theft, rape, receiving stolen goods, amongst others.
The FIB-STS equally recovered a total of eight foreign and seven locally made AK47 rifles, eight revolver rifles, two thousand two hundred rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, 14 AK47 magazines, three stolen cars, 10 fake number plates and a cash sum of one million, eight hundred and eighty thousand (1,880,000) naira from the suspects during follow-up investigations.
