Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, said the north’s bandits are not only from the Fulani ethnic group.

The governor asserts that Igbo’s, Yoruba’s, and Hausa’s are the true beneficiaries of the bandit’s terrorism.

According to the governor, most of the bandits hail from other ethnic group; they only have Fulani miscreants within them, making people think that these bandits are Fulanis.

Speaking during an interview with newsmen said, “These bandits are not only Fulanis.

“In fact, they are terrorizing the Fulanis, but they have Fulani miscreants within them; they have Hausa, they have Igbo suppliers; they have Yorubas. They’re people really benefitting from the illicit trade.”

Mohammed further insists that the herders do not have any choice other than to own and move around with AK-47 in self-defense against killers and cattle rustlers.

He also said his comment on insisting that Fulani herdsmen carry guns in self-defense does not mean he’s defending them.

He insists; “I have not changed my opinion on the issue; I was not defending herdsmen,”

The governor further state that the security heads and agencies have thrown in the towel.

“It seems the security agencies have thrown in the towel; are mesmerized,” on the security situation in the country,” he said.
