The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen says doomsayers and pessimists shall be disappointed soon amid Nigeria’s daunting economic challenges.
The Speaker’s message comes as Nigeria marks its 63rd Independence Anniversary on Sunday.
Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He urged fellow citizens and compatriots to keep hope in the country alive.
Despite soaring inflation, crumbling naira, energy crisis and other economic challenges facing Nigeria, Speaker Abbas noted that the country will be great again.
The Speaker reiterated his appeal on organized labour under the auspices of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to shelve the plan to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike on Tuesday over welfare issues.
He said embarking on a nationwide indefinite strike would do the country no good; instead, it would only aggravate the situation.
He said organized labour should reason with the Federal Government and put the strike on hold by cooperating with the authorities so that all issues would be resolved amicably.
