I will not attend Sanwo-Olu inauguration – Ambode

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has stated that he will not be attending the swearing-in ceremony where Babajide Sanwo-Olu will be declared Governor of Lagos State.

Yesterday, we reported that Ambode officially handed over to Sanwo-Olu. He took to social media to appreciate Lagosians for giving him a four years experience.

He tweeted:

“To the Glory of God, I have just handed over the reins of government in Lagos State to His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, after a rewarding 4-year experience. This would not have been possible without the support, cooperation and prayers of all Lagosians. I remain eternally grateful to you all. God bless you all. And to God be all the Glory”.

Ambode via a short statement today by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, revealed that he will not be present at the swearing-in ceremony which will take place today at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, in Lagos.

I have already formally handed over reigns of power in the State to the new Governor in a most cordial and convivial ceremony at the State House yesterday. The formal inauguration should have Mr. Sanwo-Olu as the star of the day. I don’t think that glory should be shared with him by my presence,” Ambode said.
