Veteran actor Yemi Solade was tongue
lashed by fans during the week when he posted a picture of Cynthia
Morgan with a nose ring beside a cow that also has a nose ring. Many
people felt that he was comparing her with a cow and felt the picture
was insensitive.
But in a chat with Saturday Beats,
he explained that he was too old to do such as the post was a harmless
one which he has since deleted when his attention was drawn to who was
in it.
“I don’t know why people would think I
would post a negative picture against someone. An artiste from Tanzania
sent the picture to me. I saw it and I did not know who Cynthia Morgan
is, I have just heard some of her tracks. When I saw the picture, it was
funny to me, so I posted it about two nights ago. It was a contact of
mine on BBM that called my attention to it that the person in the
picture was Cynthia Morgan. I immediately put it down but before I went
there, a blogger had picked it up and was making a big deal out of it.
“I am too old for all that. I was just
creating fun; I did not even know who the person was. I did not know she
is a Nigerian. I posted about 15 pictures that day that I thought were
funny including that one. I know the name Cynthia Morgan and I have
listened to her songs but I don’t know her facially. If she reaches out
to me, this is the exact same thing I will tell her. I don’t know her,”
he said.
The ace actor said that this was not the
first time he would witness the venom of some online users as they have
once pounced on Wizkid just because he commented on his family photo.
“There was a time I released a picture
of my family and I in Arsenal jersey and Wizkid commented on the photo
that he was jealous of my family. People just picked it up and because
he said he was jealous, they decided to unleash terror on the boy. They
asked why he was envious and they began to abuse him telling him to go
and get married,” he said.
