K-Peace
Kunle Ogunrombi better known as K-Peace
was simply ecstatic and almost collapsed when he was declared the winner
of the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol season 5. The young man just
couldn’t hold back the tears that rolled down his eyes after emerging
the winner of the competition.

Getting to the final stage was not an
easy road as K-Peace survived all the audition hurdles and eviction
hammers to become the last man standing.

The grand finale that held last Saturday
was spectacular as so many guests trooped to the Optima Studio (Lagos)
to watch how the two finalists, Dolu and K-Peace, engaged in the final
battle.

Indeed, it was as if everybody in the
audience was rooting for K-peace as each time he came out for a
performance, the crowd would literally go wild.

Truth be told, the young man put up his best performance at the grand finale, several notches higher than his rival, Dolu.
Dolu’s performance of Omawunmi’s If you ask me, received dismal applause as against when K-Peace hit the stage with Kiss Daniel’s Woju. K-Peace’s delivery of the song was on point that most people even felt he did better than the original owner of the song.
He displayed same energetic performance
when he came on stage to perform Shina Peter’s Afro Juju. The crowd
simply went crazy as they gave him a thunderous applause after his
performance.

It wasn’t all over yet. Even though
everybody was crazy about K-Peace, so many people were still unsure who
would get the highest votes from the public.

Before the host, Ill Rymz, would announce the winner, international award winning singer, Asa, came on stage to perform.
Thereafter, the moment everybody was waiting for came and K-Peace was announced the winner.
He looked as if he couldn’t believe it was real especially when the key to a brand new SUV was handed to him.
Speaking about the show, Francesco
Angelone, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, lead sponsors of
the show, said, “Etisalat is living up to its reputation as a lifestyle
brand that is passionate about the youth and Nigerian Idol is one of our
platforms to celebrate the Nigerian youths. K-Peace particularly has
been outstanding from the audition stage and we are glad that the voting
public has crowned a winner deserving of his crown.’’
