The constant demand by workers for their welfare is not just in Nigeria. Around the world, workers want a better work pay and conditions.
The increase in minimum wage since the 19th century has been a battle, according to Nomad Capitalist. Even though most economists in the world do not know how an increase in minimum wage directly improves the economy.
It came as a shock that some countries with good economic growth rate still fall under this list of nations with very low minimum wage.
What is, however, of great interest is that Nigeria with its new N30,000 minimum wage, which most consider little in improving workers’ welfare, does not make the top 10 countries with low minimum wage.
According to Nomad Capitalist, here are therefore top 10 countries with the lowest minimum wage in the world:
- 1. Venezuela (below $24)
- 2. Pakistan ($113)
- 3. Ukraine ($140)
- 4. Egypt ($174)
- 5. Albania ($210)
- 6. Malaysia ($233)
- 7. Iran ($261)
- 8. South Africa ($277)
- 9. Morocco ($310)
- 10. India
