Fulani herdsmen militia have allegedly issued a three-day-ultimatum on Torkula community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Torkula village is the home town of the late Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation, Chief Alfred Akawe Torkula.
According to a resident of the area, Mr. Vincent Shagbaor, the herders said if the inhabitants did not vacate the area within the time they (herders) have given, they will attack the community.
He said, “The Fulani militia have given my community (Torkula village) three days to vacate the area or be faced with hypersonic missiles.”
Shagbaor told journalists that the people have began leaving the community to an internally displaced persons camps.
“Right now our people are migrating to IDP camps for fear of attack,” Mr. Shagbaor added.
He further alleged conspiracy between the herders and the military saying while the members of operation whirl stroke in the area are told, they care less.
“The military is aware about this but seems not to be interested in our report. What is happening is a conspiracy of the highest order. God is watching.”
There have been renewed herdsmen attacks on communities in Benue State especially those at the border areas.
Suspected herdsmen Tuesday morning killed about five persons in Ahentse, Nzorov council ward of Benue State.
