herders destroyed farm produces worth millions

Suspected Fulani herdsmen and their cows have destroyed agricultural produces worth millions of nairas in Ampang-West village of Mangu LGA of Plateau State.

KemiFilaniNews gathered that the herders carried out the act on Sunday 19th September 2021, when the farmers were in church.

Sources said the herdsmen allowed their cows to graze on the farmlands thereby destroying the produces.

One of the sources wondered why the herders who had lived peacefully with the Mangu people in the past resolved to the destruction of their farms and means of livelihood without any provocation.

“We went to our farms on Monday only to discover that Fulani herdsmen and their cows have destroyed all the farm produces. We suffer to cultivate and maintain our farms for months only for herders to lead their cows to come and eat up everything during the harvest season without any provocation,” the source said.

The source called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to assist all farmers whose means of livelihood were destroyed.

Plateau State has been under series of farmers and herders clashes for decades, but the state government has always announced that herders and native farmers had agreed to make peace.

However, the peace agreement have constantly been violated by both sides at the slightest provocation.
