
to be headless, was found in the sea at Walmer, near Deal, Kent, this
morning.
Lifeboat crew and coastguards are now said to be searching for the head of victim after the discovery just after 10am.
The area was sealed off and families at the nearby Walmer boathouse
ushered away from the scene, after a member of the public spotted the
headless body.
Police have said the death is not thought to be suspicious and the body has been retrieved from the water by RNLI members.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at 10.12am
following the discovery of a man’s body in the water near Deal Pier.
“Officers remain at the scene and are being assisted by the coastguard, lifeboat crews and South East Coast Ambulance Service.
“The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and inquiries to confirm the man’s identity are ongoing.”
Cops are now working to identify the man and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
