Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has expressed grief over the death of Nasiru Nono, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who died on Thursday in a horrific car accident on the Abuja-Keffi Road.
In a press statement issued by Ismaila Uba-Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs Gombe Government House, Yahaya expressed his sorrow over the tragic news.
He described the former lawmaker’s death as a monumental loss not only to his family but also to the state and Nigeria as a whole.
He described the late ex-legislator as a humble and down-to-earth politician who was dedicated to the well-being of his constituents and the people of the state as a whole.
The governor said that the late ex-speaker discharged his legislative duties with “tact, dexterity and statesmanship while presiding over the state legislature and earned the respect and loyalty of his colleagues.”
“On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I convey our deepest condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, his political associates and the people of Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area.
“I pray Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus.”(NAN)
