The Kano State Government has denied banishing Muhammadu Sanusi II after he was dethroned as Emir of Kano on Monday.
This was disclosed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Ibrahim Muktar, who spoke to Channels Television.
His statement clearly contradicts that which was made by Salihu Tanko Yakasai., an aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.
According to the Attorney General, the State Government never in anywhere in its address on the dethronement issue state that they were banishing the former Emir.
He said, “there was nowhere he said the emir was even banished from Kano State”.
“The decision of the government was (that) the emir as of Monday was removed from office and a new emir was appointed.
“The issue of banishment was not part of the decision of the Kano State Government.”
