Four people have been feared dead following a cult rivalry clash in the town of Gboko, Benue State.

KemiFilaniNews gathered that the incident happened on Tuesday night through the early hours of Wednesday, 15th September 2021.

It was gathered that three persons were killed on Tuesday night at Gbar-Mkar in Gboko east, and one Mr Vershima Bendega, alias Ter Kwande, was also gunned down the following morning at Gboko central.

According to the local news platform, World Link, one Mr. Celestine Bendega said to be the uncle to the victim killed at Number 10, Iorkyaa Ako street, Gboko central, confirmed the incident.

“Yesterday, around 1:00 am, we heard loud sounds of banging on the door when I peeped from my room, I saw over 20 hooded boys with machetes and axes hitting somebody on the ground, after they certified the macheted person dead, they were moving door by door collecting monies and handsets including mine,” World Link quoted the bereaved uncle to the victim as saying.

Mr. Bendega narrated further that, “when we came out later we saw my younger brother Mr. Vershima Bendega popularly known as Ter Kwande who is a student of Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Gboko was macheted to death.

“I couldn’t identify any of the attackers because it was dark and they were very hostile, the truth is that these guys come for their target,” he added.

When contacted by journalists, the DPO of Gboko A Division, CSP Nelson Iorhemba, referred them to the PPRO, Makurdi.
