The offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara State have been gutted by fire.
Channels Television reports that neither the Zamfara State Police Command nor the INEC authorities in the state have confirmed the incident or if there was any casualty, as of the time of this report.
Efforts to reach INEC’s Head of Voters’ Education and Publicity in Zamfara State were unsuccessful.
According to local sources, affected was the office of the electoral umpire in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of the state
The locals stated that the fire started at about 9pm on Monday and razed almost the entire building with nothing removed from the office.
The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Also, it was not yet clear if fire fighters were at the scene to put out the fire or cordon off the area to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the incident,
