FG suspends petrol subsidy removal until further notice

The federal government on Monday, announced that it has suspended the planned petrol subsidy removal until further notice.

The President Muhammadu Buhari administration had planned to remove subsidy payments on petroleum products from July this year.

However, today, Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget, national planning, during a meeting held at the National Assembly in Abuja, says the plans have been shelved.

The meeting was convened at the instance of Ahmad Lawan, president of the senate.

Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum resources, Mele Kyari, group managing director, NNPC Limited, were also in attendance.
