The Federal Government has increased the allowance of members of the National Youths Service Corp, NYSC, to N33,000.
The NYSC Director-General, Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim made this known while he was addressing Corp members in Bauchi State.
According to the him, the increment came in line with the new minimum wage approved by the Federal Government.
“Contrary to the various amounts being circulated on the social media, the sum of thirty-three thousand naira had been approved as the new rate,” Ibrahim said
Shuaibu had hinted on the increase when he spoke in September saying “immediately the federal government starts the payment of the new minimum wage”.
“Your monthly allowance would be increased immediately the Federal Government starts the payment of the new minimum wage to all public servants nationwide,” he said in an address delivered at the NYSC orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos
The new allowance was also confirmed by the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Are.
