The Federal Government holds a reception ceremony for COVID-19 vaccines that arrived in the country earlier today.
The reception ceremony was organized and attended by Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Health Minister, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Faisal Shuaib, Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
The CEO of NPHCDA had earlier commented that “There is going to be a small ceremony chaired by the Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19 to receive the vaccine at the VIP Protocol section, General Aviation Terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“At the end of the ceremonies to mark the arrival of the vaccines. A few vials of the vaccines would be handed over to the NAFDAC team, which they will analyze over a period of two days (Wednesday, March 3rd and Thursday, March 4th).”
Kemi Filani had earlier reported that almost four million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were shipped to Nigeria through the COVAX Facility. A feat that was achieved via the partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF, and WHO. were
3.94 million doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India arrived in the country from Mumbai around 11:30 am on Tuesday, shipped by COVAX.
