Due to the planned #EndSARS protest, Lekki Phase 1 would be closed this weekend.
Different factions of the Nigerian youth are fighting for and against the reopening of the Lekki.
The leadership of the Lekki Residents Association (LERA) disclosed that its main gate would remain closed.
Yomi Idowu, Chairman of the association, made the announcement on public notice.
“Dear Residents, the main gate into Lekki Phase 1 shall be closed by 5:00 on Saturday 13th February 2021, due to the impending protest at the Lekki toll gate.
“Please plan to use alternative routes. All inconveniences are regretted. Please keep safe,” the public notice reads.
In partnership with the Police, the federal and state government have warned protesters not to protest at the plaza.
Commissioner of Police, Hakeen Odunmosu, announced that the police operatives would take the necessary preventive measures to disallow protest at the Lekki toll gate.
While speaking on the planned protest by EndSARS protesters, Hakeem said lives and properties would be protected if any protest ensues at the plaza.
“Organising any protest in furtherance of the recent violent and destructive EndSars protest will be counterproductive to the ongoing series of inquiries and investigations,” he noted.
