The Lekki Concession Company Limited has said tolling operations will soon resume at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge in Lagos State.
Tolling operations had been shut down 18 months ago after youths took to the streets to protest against police brutality and bad governance under the banner of #EndSARS.
Making the announcement, the Managing Director of the LCC, Yomi Omomuwasan, said tolling will resume April 1, adding that until then, commuters won’t pay any toll fee to ply the bridge.
“We have introduced new technology and innovations to make passage at the Toll Plaza seamless and faster for commuters. We are replacing the old toll device with upgraded ones for faster throughput at the Toll Plaza.
“The new devices have been configured to synchronise with the newly upgraded tolling systems and will improve functionally while enabling a better experience at the Toll Plaza,” he said.
Omomuwasan added that the decision to resume tolling was not taken without proper consultation with Residents Associations, Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, professional bodies as well as the Lagos State Government.
