The Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,727 personnel ahead of Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSC Chrisantus Longbit, said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos on Thursday.
Longbit said that the deployment was aimed at ensuring a hitch-free celebration across the state.
He said that the command was determined to ensure the state remain peaceful during and after the celebration.
NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Alexander Barunde, who briefed the deployed personnel in Jos, urged them to be professional in their conduct.
”This deployment is strategically made to cater for security needs of the state.
”We deployed armed, unarmed and our intelligence personnel for the purpose of monitoring and maintenance of peace, law and order.
”This will ensure a conducive, joyful, hitch-free and peaceful environment for the celebration,” he said.
Barunde, however, warned the personnel against unnecessary intimidation of law-abiding citizens, saying that anyone caught would be sanctioned.
The Commandant, who wished all Muslim Ummah in the state rewarding Eid-el-Fitr, also called on the residents of the state to be law-abiding and peaceful during the celebration. (NAN)
