The 2015 edition of the Headies Awards ended in disarray after Don Jazzy and his Mavin crew stormed out of the event premises.
Don Jazzy’s exit of the hall came after he was honoured with the Special Recognition award by Tony Okoroji.
The super-producer, in his vote of thanks, said he didn’t want the
award as he believes his former music/business partner, D’banj was more
deserving.
Don Jazzy said he had urged Ayo Animashaun, the organiser of the
award, to bequeath the Special Recognition award to D’banj, whom he said
was next in line after 2face Idibia and Psquare had each won the
category in previous years.
However, that didn’t happen and Don Jazzy had this to say: “I dont
like awards. I told Ayo Animashaun that I dont want this award. I said
the award should be given to D’banj but they found a way to get me
here.”
Speaking on Olamide’s reaction to Reekado Bank’s win of the Next
Rated Artiste category, Don Jazzy took a direct swipe at the rapper.
He said: “I came out here to support my children. As they were trying
to present the award, Reekado Banks was performing at Ali Baba’s show. I
have already told my children that I will buy cars for all of them.
“Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and collect it”, Don Jazzy added.
The Next Rated category at the Headies Awards, comes with a saloon car gift.
