Sometimes it pays to be cheated on! These women, (Mrs. Ikechi Nwosu, 68, and her daughter, Nkiru Ihezuo) narrowly escaped the dana plane crash by ‘not-arguing with the Chinese men that ‘bribed-their way’ through to get the remaining seats in the ill-fated plane.
The women initially went to the Arik airlines stand, but their plane was fully booked, so they headed for Dana Air where they joined a queue for the ticket.
“We were on the queue and it was my turn to buy the ticket. I was
rummaging my bag to bring out money to pay for the ticket when two
Chinese men who were behind me
gave money to the cashier and paid for
the remaining seats. I was very angry and their action generated a
verbal exchange between my husband and the cashier.”
According to the daughter, Ihezuo,“The Chinese men were not even sorry for their action, instead they and their girlfriends made jest of us, waving the tickets in the air and making fun of us; we were so annoyed and we decided to postpone the trip.”
She further told punch newpapers, that they hadn’t reached the house when they got reports that the Dana plane had crashed.
The mother, Nwosu, on the other hand says “I am yet to get over the experience, I
have been feeling uncomfortable and I have sworn that I will never take
flight again; I will rather ride in Keke NAPEP (commercial tricycle) to Lagos, instead of travelling in a plane”
