The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said both the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Federal government called off cross over service at night because they fear the virus attack people at night.
Kemi Filani News recalls that the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 issued a curfew between 12 am and 4 am as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
As a result, the Christian Association of Nigeria had also directed churches to close their crossover service before 11 pm so that worshippers could return home before the curfew period.
Delivering a sermon at his church’s first thanksgiving service of the year 2021 themed, ‘Divine Lifting’, Adeboye pondered with his members how the cancellation of the physical cross over service would have curbed the virus. He also worried if the coronavirus was a witch that attack only at night and not by day.
He said,“Some said by 10 pm you should close. Another one said by 11 pm you should close. I said, okay, let’s agree and close in our home. So, I said we’ll stay at our house and crossover at 12 midnight.” I find it funny because nobody has told us yet that coronavirus attack people at night. Nobody told us that coronavirus is a witch. It is only witches who fly at night, if coronavirus is a witch, then it means it can hear. If I am witch, god forbid I am not a witch, oh, if I hear the people I want to kill would be in their houses then I would come out earlier to attack them.”
However, he commended the government and its officials, Adeboye said they “are doing a very good job, they are trying their best. When you ask a man to do a job only God can do, don’t blame him if he makes mistakes. They are trying and doing their very best, humanly speaking, to protect us.”
