Court remands 40-year-old man for allegedly stealing in Kano

A Kano Sharia Court in Fagge on Wednesday remanded a 40-year-old man, Kabiru Hamisu, in a correctional centre, for allegedly stealing a bag of dates worth N70,000, and 90,000 cfa francs.

The police charged Hamisu, who resides in Hotoro Quarters, Kano with theft.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Judge, Malam Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed, adjourned the matter until May 8 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdul Wada told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 18 at Fagge Quarters, Kano.

He told the court that on the same date at 4 p.m. the defendant, allegedly trespassed into Yahaya Sale’s shop and stole a bag of dates and 90,000 cfa francs cash.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law. (NAN)
