Residents of Ijesha area of Surulere, Lagos are crying out to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as their community is flooded due to recent downpours.
People in the area are finding it difficult to go about their daily activities and they fear that the situation could get even get worse when the rain becomes serious.
In a short message received by Legit.NG, one of the residents, Adeyinka Ademuyiwa, released some photos and said the situation had heightened and it’s important to call for the government’s intervention because the canals are blocked with debris thus making it difficult to channel water when it rains.
“Government, please come to the rescue of the people living at Ijesha Surulere. The canal is full to the brim and blocked; now growing grasses on it.
“So it (is) causing a huge flood in the whole area now that it is raining season. Please Lagos state government help,” Muyiwa said in the short statement accompanying the photographs.
