Chelsea battle Man City for community shield glory

EPL Champions, Manchester City and FA Cup Champions, Chelsea will slug it out for early season bragging rights at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday Afternoon.

Maurizio Sarri will be eager to start his Chelsea reign with a silverware, Pep Guardiola will be eyeing another shot at glory after winning the EPL in style last season breaking every records as if they never existed.

Chelsea have only added one player to their team ahead of the early closure of the transfer window on Thursday.

Manchester City have signed Algerian Winger Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City both players are in line to make their debut in the traditional season opener.

Maurizio Sarri is eager to kickstart his Chelsea career at Wembley with a Silverware

“First of all I’m looking forward to playing at Wembley, because it’s my first time. The match will be very difficult for us.
“I want to win, because it’s very important to have immediately a trophy.
“But in this moment of the season, it’s very important, the performance. We have to improve, of course.”

Pep Guardiola is delighted to have Maurizio Sarri in the premier league.

“I’m happy a manager Sarri is here. I will learn a lot and see him every weekend. We are going to improve because of his ideas.

“I’ve seen three games and he gets it. The team already in a short time plays like he wants. He needs more time but his ideas are already there.

“It’s going to be a good game. Chelsea will be a big rival, they always are. I think he will be perfect for English football.

“Sarri invited us in the summer, we went out in Italy and Sarri paid for the meal.”

The match will kick off 3pm Nigerian Time.

Chelsea have won 20 matches at Wembley – only Spurs (32), Man Utd (23), Arsenal (21) have won more times.

City have won their past two matches at Wembley, both in 2017-18 – beating Spurs 3-1 in April and Arsenal 3-0 in the League Cup final in February.
