Abdulrasheed-Bawa

President Muhammed Buhari, nomination for the office of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Wednesday has denied selling properties of the Commission at the zonal office in Port Harcourt.

Bawa, who under-going a grilling period at the Senate plenary, also confirmed that he’s capable and fit for the office as the Commission’s chairman based on the EFCC Act provision.

He further explained that Port Harcourt’s property was properly disposed of by the agency’s official team from the headquarters.

Recall that Bawa had been accused of selling some properties that belong to the agency to some of the alliances for a ridiculous amount of price.

The goods include impounded illegal tankers of petrol that were smuggled into the country.

It was reported that Bawa was arrested and detained by the antigraft agency for selling the impounded truck, which was at least 244 in number and worth between N20 million and N30 million each.

Bawa was accused of selling the trucks to his proxies for a meager amount of N100 per unit.

Following the realization, concerned Nigerians have called for the removal of Bawa as nominee for the Chairman of EFCC as they argue that he’s not fit for the position following his antecedent corrupt practices.
