Bandits attack Zamfara, killed one, set market on fire

Suspected bandits stormed Yartadhar Sahabi Market in Dansadau Emirate, Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, killed one, Injured many after setting the market on fire.

An anonymous eyewitness said the bandits invaded that market square and opened fire sporadically into the air.

According to the eyewitness, the attack injured many people trying to escape the bandits’ bullets.

The eye witness further reveals that some residents locked themselves inside the houses, adding that the bandits walked away with food items worth millions of naira, owned by the traders, after which they burned the market.

“The bandits after looting some food items set almost all the stalls of the market, including some provisions belonging to traders on fire and ran to the bush as they sighted the Mobile Police attached to Operation Puff Adder,” the source hinted.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of Zamafara State Police Command, SP. Muhammad Shehu is yet to confirm the incident as of the time of filing this report.
