APC wins Borno North Senatorial seat

The All Progressive Congress’s (APC) Mr. Monguno-Muhammed Tahir has been proclaimed the victor of the Borno North Senate seat by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The INEC Returning Officer announced on Tuesday in Maiduguri. Prof. Dattijo Aminu.

According to Aminu, Tahir received 44,813 votes to win.

He claimed that Tahir outpolled the People Democratic Party’s (PDP) Lawan Isa, who received 19,015 votes, and was his closest rival.

Aminu said that Amos Dawa of NNPP scored 248 votes, while Kuramodu Babagana of SDP got 217 votes.

He said that Tahir was declared winner and returned elected having satisfied the requirement of the electoral law.

According to NAN, the Borno North Senatorial district includes the Borno local government areas of Marte, Monguno, Nganzai, Kaga, Magumeri, Gubio, Abadam, Mobbar, Guzamala, and Kukawa. (NAN)
