Dr Wale Ahmed of the APC was declared the winner of the Agege Federal Constituency seat in Lagos State by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Prof. Alabi Shoneye, INEC Returning Officer for the Agege Federal Constituency election, made the announcement at the Collation Centre in the state’s Orile Agege area.
In Saturday’s National Assembly elections, the APC candidate received 27, 445 votes, outnumbering his closest rival, Mr Sola Osolana of the PDP, who received 13, 376 votes.
Mr Fatai Hassan of the Labour Party received 8,074 votes, while the NNPP’s candidate received 573 votes.
Shoneye said that Ahmed, haven scored the highest votes at the election, had won the national assembly election for the constituency.
“Ahmed Adewale Waheed of APC, haven satisfied the requirements of the law, has scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” Shoneye said.
Shoneye said only 10 parties contested in the election in Agege local government area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ahmed is currently the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs in Lagos state.
He was a former spokesperson of the PDP in Lagos state before he defected to the APC. (NAN)
