The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu has slammed those criticizing him for sending his children to school abroad when the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is on strike.
The ASUU strike which has lingered for month and has become a yearly occurrence. It is currently keeping students at home as universities are shut down due to lecturers downing tools.
The strike action is to force the federal government to meet the demands of the lecturers who say they want better educational standard in Nigeria.
Orji Kalu, on Facebook, shared photos of his daughter at an event that appears to be a graduation ceremony at a school apparently in the US.
This did sit well with many who dropped comment to lash out at the senator for sending his daughter abroad to school while Nigerian Students are wasting at home due to the ASUU strike action.
Reacting, Orji Kalu wrote, “My five children were born in the US and are all citizens of the US. My first child , Neya was born in 1991 and I do not see any correlation with my children’s education and the comments about ASUU. My children were already schooling in the US even before I became Governor in 1999. It is just fair I clarify this with reference to some unkind comments I have read.”
