Abia Govt abolish motorcycle unions, okays ASMOPU

The Abia State government has abolished all motorcycle unions in the State for a new association known as ‘Abia State Motorcycle Operators Union, ASMOPU.

Professor Kenneth Kalu, the Secretary to Abia State government, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

In the statement, the SSG said operations of the commercial motorcyclists in the State have now been structured into ASMOPU.

He explained that the restructuring was aimed at enhancing the security of lives and property of Abians, especially those in the rural areas of the State, adding that ASMOPU would have Umuahia and Aba zones.

Professor Kalu named Mr. Ugbaja Chiemela and Ogbuagu Okorie-Oko the Chairman and Secretary of Aba Zone, ASMOPU.

It added that Chinyere Idemugo and Onyedikachi Uhegwu are executives of ASMOPU.
