President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered ministers and members of his cabinet who want to run for office next year, to resign before Monday, May 16.
Buhari gave the directive during the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
The president also asked those with other ambitions or contesting for various positions to resign.
Those that could be affected include minister of state for petroleum, Timipre Sylva, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, among others.
Already, the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, has resigned from his role.
