Habeeb Korede, a salesperson, and David Oguzie, a trader, were brought into court on Friday in Ikeja, Lagos, for allegedly stealing soft drinks worth N2.030 million.
The defendants being tried for conspiracy and stealing are Korede, 30, of 30 Yomi Saree Street in the Fagba neighbourhood of Lagos, and Oguzie, 26, of 409 Ajakaye Street in Abule Egba, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the defendants and another person still at large are accused of robbing Mrs. Betty Oyeride of her soft drinks.
Akeem claimed that the crimes were committed at a distribution facility on Ogba Road in Agege, Lagos, between September 2022 and March 14.
The prosecutor said that Habeeb is Oyeride’s salesman.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until May 30 for mention. (NAN)
