12 Burnt To Death In Kano Auto Crash

No fewer than twelve people were reportedly burnt to death following a fatal road accident in Tsamawa town of Garun Malam Local Government Area, Kano State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on the ever-busy Kano- Kaduna expressway, around 3pm on Monday, after two commercial buses, Toyota Hiace bus and J5 collided.

Daily Trust reported that the accident claimed the lives of all the people involved.

The spokesman of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said the corpses and the vehicles’ numbers were burnt beyond recognition.

He said, “On Monday 28 February 2022, our fire station at Kura LGA received an emergency call at about 15:00hrs from one Isah Mai Fetur, who reported a road accident/fire at Tsamawa Town in Garun Malam Local Government Area.

“Our men from Kura reached the area at about 15:12hrs and found that two commercial vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus collided with J5 and all with unknown registration numbers were engulfed by fire, 12 people were involved, 11 from the Haice bus which is headed from Zaria road to Kano, and 1 person inside the J5 which is headed from Kano to Kaduna.

“All victims rescued unconscious and found dead by the fire incident and we cannot identified their names and age, due to the fire incident,” he added.

The spokesman also said that the corpses were taken to the hospital by the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The sector commandant of the FRSC in Kano, Mato Zubairu, was not available for comment on the accident as calls and text message to his phone by our reporter was not answered or replied to.
