The Nigeria Police Force has said it is wrong to profile anyone just for having tattoos on his or her body.
This was stated by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a tweet on Monday.
Frowning against such practice, Adejobi stated that there are many other modern, calm and detailed methods of profiling people.
He tweeted, “It’s not proper to profile anyone with tattoos. Any policeman doing that is on his own. Not a professional way of profiling someone. There are many other modern, calm and detailed methods of profiling people. So we don’t support such profiling approach.”
Reacting, one @elaweda asked, “I have questions sir:
- When was this “condition” introduced?
- Do you know, and can you share why it was introduced?
- Is(are) the why(s) still valid in today’s society?
It’s nt enough to stick to things because we don’t want to be like others and claim to be a dynamic force.”
Adejobi responded, “Our position on tattoos is not negotiable, so no need to raise these questions. Enjoy ur day. Ire o.”
